Welcome! My name is Riley Kaminer. I am currently undertaking an MPhil in Latin American Studies at the University of Cambridge. In July 2018, I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a First Class MA (Hons) degree in Business Studies and Spanish.
Passionate about combining my background in international relations with my work in media, I am constantly on the lookout for ways in which journalism can enable meaningful conversations on a global scale. My cultural awareness is at the forefront of everything I do, stemming from my command of both Spanish and English as well as my time living for extended periods of time in the US, UK, Spain, France, and Brazil.
At Cambridge, I have been a contributor to the Globalist. While an undergraduate at the University of Edinburgh, I co-founded The Columnist Magazine, the only opinion-based journal within the official Students’ Association. Under my leadership as Editor-in-Chief in 2016/2017, the publication was admitted into both the National Library of Scotland and the University’s Centre for Research Collections. I regularly contribute to a variety of publications, including Counterpoint.
My hobbies include art, film, literature, and anything related to Latin America. I am an avid photographer, using the visual medium as a complement to my written work.
I am currently based in Cambridge, England and New York City.
